Abstract |
The roles of the ritual are divided into two levels: individual and community, and the performance of the ritual is divided into two aspects: solemnity among the medium members and fun for all participants, using Kaen, a local woodwind instrument, to produce rhythms and melodies. Symbolically, the ritual and music symbolizes fertility of the community in connection with the vocational lifestyles of community members. Although younger generations are becoming more influenced by urban culture, the role of the ritual towards the belief system of the ethnic group has still been strongly maintained, reflecting the images of particular ethnic beliefs from the past to the present
