Abstract |
the objective of this research is to investigate the fundamental culture, the learning process and the cultural transmission that influence the thinking systems and norms in the forest resource management of the Tai Lue community. The Lue residents value their cultural systems and utilize the systems to encourage their members to follow their traditional lifestyles until their own community identity is formed. Young Lue people are taught to value natural resources, particularly the forest, so that the resources are utilized sustainably. There are rituals related to forest conservation, for instance the tree ordination ritual or the beliefs about tree felling and land clearing for cultivation (pages 77-80).
