Abstract |
The Mon were suppressed politically in Burma, so they were forced to flee their homeland to settle in Thailand. Mons have had good relationships with Thais for a long time, because they are peace lovers. They established their own civilization in terms of culture, religion and trade. Due to a similar cultural background, they are easily assimilated with Thais. However, they have still maintained their strong ethnic identity.
