Abstract |
The report investigates the lifestyles and livelihood of Muslim Thais as well as data on construction and folk architecture unique to Muslim Thai houses in the southern border provinces. The report also studies the construction procedures and house-building traditions of these Muslims. It is a case study of Krue Seh Village, Tambon Tan Yong Lu Lo, Muang District of Patani Province. It is found that the houses reflect local beliefs, customs and traditions as well as a simple lifestyle. Additionally, socio-economic and cultural changes have had a strong impact on their lifestyle and house construction. Traditional houses have been replaced by new ones with different architectural aspects.
