The report investigates socio-cultural aspects of the Lue ethnic group in villages in Tambon Kluay Phae, Muang District in Lampang Province. The aspects include their background, settlements, livelihood, traditions, and beliefs, linguistic identity, and other social aspects. The social aspects include family and kinship systems, marriage, religion, education, economy, occupations, and inter and intra-community relationships. It is found that the traditions and culture of the ethnic group are similar to those of Lanna people. However, certain traditions and rituals are unique to the group, such as, language, dress and the appeasement ritual of the Village Protector. The group is hard-working, persevering, thrifty, and financially minded. At the present time, their lifestyle has changed from simply agriculture to agriculture in conjunction with investment and labor. It is predicted that their commercial activities at the village level will be developed to the same level as local conditions in the future.
