Abstract |
This research covered several aspects of economic and marketing relationships between hilltribes and lowlanders. They included, firstly, village conditions of the hilltribes in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Lamphun Provinces, and socio-economic aspects of the hilltribes and lowlanders. This was further divided into different topics: ethnicities, gender, age, education, marital status, the number of family members, the number of employed family members, principal and supplementary occupations, family income and expenditure, religion, socio-economic activities among communities, access to information and technology, and influences in using technology. Secondly, marketing and economic relationships between the hilltribes and lowlanders included economic relationship, marketing relationship, and interaction patterns and socialization between the two groups in economic and marketing terms. The third area that was looked at was the roles of state sectors on the hilltribes in marketing terms. Finally, attitudes and marketing and farming practices between the two groups were looked at, including attitudes of the two groups toward each other, marketing attitudes of the lowlanders toward the hilltribes that affected their marketing behavior, marketing and economic practices of the lowlanders that affected the attitude of the hilltribes, and attitudinal factors of the hilltribes on marketing practices of the lowlanders.
