Abstract

Contents of this research covers Mon in Phrapradeang’s culture, beliefs and traditions, local art, especially making Mon’s coffin in Phrapradeang as seen at the present. There are also rituals as a bridge connecting this world with the next world and between the people in the community. Mon’s coffin shows uniqueness of Mon community, Phrapradeang because of its delicated style and design distinguished form others. The coffin is mainly made of wood and paper about 20-30 kinds of designs are used to decorate the coffin, its cover, and Yod-Kru. Its small windows are decorated with Kun-Pan-Poed-Marn Design. The top of the coffin called Yod-Kru, is regarded as the most important part because it is believed that the spirit of the carpenters’ great teacher resides here.
