Abstract |
From the study, it is found that community culture relates to forest fire because “fire” is the most important tool of the culture in terms of settlement, agriculture and livelihood such as gathering forest products and hunting. Furthermore, the relationship is reflected by their worldview and belief which seek to explain the natural world in their culture. The community in this study had just established a forest fire management programme 10 years ago, especially with the Ngo involvement and the government policy, thus the community can better manage the natural resource. However, due to the prevailing poverty, the villagers have migrated to work in urban areas, the efforts spent on forest fire management in the community have decreased.
