Abstract |
This book recounts the background of the Karen residing in Jai Phaen Din or Bang Kloy Bon village in the Kaen Krajan National Forest. The author discusses the background of the community and changes that members have experienced and as well, he addresses the conventional livelihoods, traditions and culture of the community before their houses and rice barns were burned down. They were forced to evacuate and resettle at Bang Kloy Lang village, which changed their conventional lifestyles. The villagers had fought for justice and their rights to return to their original settlement. This book contains lessons from the Karen community at Bang Kloy Bon village, their community’s lifestyles and their ethnicity in the fight against and negotiation with the state’s power and conditions.
