Abstract |
Pakistani and Yunnanese Muslim in Chiang Mai is a group of people who have different origin, migration history as well as society and culture. The Pakistani and Yunnanese Muslim always claim their homeland in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Yunnan as cultural and religious heritages which they adhere to Islam assertion and ethnical members, even they have never been back their homeland. Chiang Mai or Thailand is a place they are boundary. (p. 222) To maintain the Islamic identity in Chiang Mai is from the internal needs among Muslim in order to be successful and socially accepted within the same ethnicity. (p. 221). However, they are Thai citizen, so from the present situation, in the future, Muslim in Chiang Mai will be integrated with the Local Northern Thai society in terms of political participation, economy and politic in the meantime they can maintain their Islamic identity. (p.225)
