Abstract |
This investigation is a collection of knowledge about preservation of plant seeds of nine ethnic groups, which includeAkha, Lisu, Pga K’nyau, Hmong, Mien, Da Ra-ang, Lua, Lahu, and Tai Lue, through a documentary research and interviewing the ethnic residents. It was found that the groups carry out three methods of plant seed preservation. They include selecting and storing seeds, planting the seeds every year in the rainy season, and conducting a ritual to appease the Guardians of Seeds. The three methods are their ethnic wisdom that enables them to have food for consumption all year round.
