Abstract |
The Karenni were war refugees who had settled in diaspora communities in Thailand. They were unable to return to their homeland and were obliged to adapt to the changing environment amidst the feeling of alienation. They have been in Thailand for a long time as refugees and have always experienced the feeling of ‘otherness’. Therefore, they feel confused about their existence and are neither able to be a part of their diaspora communities, nor are they able to be a part of a newly constructed Karen nation.
