Abstract |
This thesis studies the Khamu culture in terms of social aspects, beliefs, economic aspects, political aspects and administrative aspects. The Khamu culture has changed when through migration to the lowland. Their way of life in terms of economy, society, culture, politic and administration have changed in order to relate to the way of life of the lowlanders such as change in economy with a more complicated style of production. They adopt Suwan 1 corn as cash crops for their main trading. They mostly depend on the Thai communities’ markets. As for the social characteristics, the families are smaller. They use Thai language to communicate with outsiders. The Khamu support their children’s education. They have adopted Buddhism and also worship spirits of ancestor. As for the social grouping, there is natural grouping based on ancestral clan. As for the political and administrative characteristics, there is an acceptance of the model of the government’s administration, but they still maintain the traditional customs of administration.
