Abstract |
The Vietnamese who migrated to Ubon Ratchathani province after 1939 were mostly involved in trade. Before they were granted Thai citizenship, they could not be involved in free career choices due to the Alien Control Act. Nowadays, they can be found in different professions, but mostly in the restaurant business. As for their education, they were not so highly educated in the past but their education has improved recently. The relationship structure among the Vietnamese is in business and kinship groups. Politically, they could only provide social support to those related to their ethnic group. Some of their socio-economic changes were due to their life experiences, particularly business adaptation.
