Abstract |
Originally, the villagers were at the Vietnamese Thai community in Sam Sen district, Bangkok, and then migrated to Ongkharak district before 1903. They were involved in farming, fresh water fisheries and mat weaving. Since they have been in this village for over a century, there have been changes due to state development and they have also tried to adapt to the mainstream society. Some of the internal factors contributing to these changes are that fewer young generations speak Vietnamese and older generations have been gone. The external factors include socio-economic and cultural situations and progress in infrastructure, public health, local administration, mass media, and transportation. Changes taking place in the village include the influence of education, public health, residence, economy, and culture, which are in line with other changes in the mainstream culture.
