Abstract |
Practices of ancestor spirit cult is Karen traditional belief significantly influencing their daily life. In each family, they have to practice the ancestor spirit ceremony and descended through matriarchal clan. In 1970-1980, the traditional belief has been abolished and there are many opium addicts. The family organization is weak causing the practices of ancestor spirit cannot be done. Then, the traditional belief is assimilated with the new religious, both Buddhism and Christianity. The practices of the ritual have been change to be related with the new religious ideas.
