Hmong / Miao in Asia, edited by Nicholas Tapp, Jean Michaud, Christian Culas, Gar Yia Lee, Silkworm Books. Pp. 375-420 |
Abstract |
The writer studies marriage behaviours and marriage attitudes of Hmong in Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Nan, Petchaboon and Tak with a quantitative description. Because of the rapid socio-economic changes affecting the Hmong traditional marriage patterns, the writer finds that the differences of marriage behaviours and attitudes toward many marriage patterns may related to the difference of socio-economic development and the differences of economy and society within the Hmong society (p. 375) The write also finds that even there are socio-economic change and cultural influence, but the Hmong still maintain their traditional marriage patterns. (p. 394)
