Abstract |
This report investigated the Tai Ya ethnic group in Chiang Rai Province, covering the ethnic livelihood in China, causes of their migration, and influences of Christianity on the life of the ethnic group. The data were collected from field investigation, interviews, and documentary research. It was found that the ethnic group migrated to Thailand following Thai and American missionaries. When they first settled, they strictly adhered to and followed the teachings of Christianity, applying them to their lives, vocations, and work with others. Their careers and incomes were stable. Nowadays, young generations believe that Christianity is their ancestors’ original religion, without realizing that they were animists before (p. 57).
