Abstract

The Tai Phuan originally settled down in Muang Phuan and Mung Chiang Kwang in the north of Laos. Then they were herded into Thailand in the reign of King Thaksin and King Rama III. Tai Phuan living in Ban Mi mosty are Lao Phuan descendants who migrated from Vientien deering Chao Anuwong’s rebellion. They firstly settled down at “Ban Sao” in Lopburi province and then in 1939, “Band Sao” changed to be “Ban Mi”. Tai Phuan are yellow and their appearance is like other Lao. They are diligent, peaceful, generous, and united. They speak Tai and live with their kinship. They are Buddhists and prefer dressing with “Mutmi”. Their houses are made of wood with high space under the houses, the floors are made of big, thick and strong wood. There is a byre under the house. At the end of the ladders, there is a spacious terrace and the kitchen is in the last part. Opposite the kitchen on the right of the ladders, there is a small house and the big house is on the left with the large hall.
