Abstract |
When traditional production was changed from subsistence agriculture to cash crop production. Crop production as a factor in production has been changed. These changes are not only in the economic system, but also in culture. The changes in production lead to the changes in the crops; farmers grew rice for subsistence agriculture, but now they grow for trade and they also grow other cash crops. Also, another factor which caused the changes in crop production in Lao Khrang community in Ban Kok was capitalism. Adoption of innovation from the West, National Economic and Social Development Planning, urbanization of nearby communities, industrialization of nearby areas, the development by the government and private sectors, the changes in environment due to irrigation, the changes in the physical environment of the earth and the changes in the surrounding water conditions of water are factors causing the changes in Lao Khrang’s crop production. Moreover, factors causing the cultural changes in Lao Khrang community are assimilation, acculturation, being a farmer community, the increase in population, the capitalist economy, the acculturation of rural development, beginning to use the National Economic and Social Development Planning, modernization, education, mass media and factors of the environment and finally natural resources. The most important cultural change is modernization and development which is providing public utilities as the basic structure of the development. This is the construction of Malai Mand Road ( Suphan Buri – Utong and Utong – Nakorn Pathom). Furthermore, there is urbanization which is caused by the expansion of Ban Tha Pra to become Utong Market and the changes in irrigation. These have affected the culture of the Lao Khrang community in Ban Kok and these are the main factors causing the changes in crop production in Ban Kok.
