| Abstract |
|
The thesis presented the historical background and community contexts of the Tai Dam ethnic group as well as the maintenance of its ethnic identity under various conditions. The data were collected by means of participatory observations and direct experiences of living with the ethnic group. The work mainly focuses on the maintenance of ethnic identity of the ethnic group. The investigation is divided into three topics which are as follows.
1. General maintenance of the ethnic identity in the yearly cycle
2. Maintenance of the ethnic identity in the form of a folk museum
3. Support of the ethnic identity maintenance from concerned state agencies and schools
