Abstract |
This research aims to study the impacts resulting from community ecological changes on the Hmong’s social relationships a case study in Baan Doi Tio, Tambon Sriphum, Amphoe Tha Wang Pha, Nan Province. The study reveals that political, economic and social development is based on Western patterns. The Global communication network and orientation to consumerism bring about changes in the ecology, way of life and livelihood of the Hmong in Baan Doi Tio; from self-sufficient production, interdependence and having their own traditions and culture to adopting commercial production and consumerism. They have also adopted urban culture to replace their traditional culture. In other words, the livelihood of the Hmong in Baan Doi Tio have a better due to public utilities such as electricity, water and inter communication.
