Abstract |
This research is to study factors which affect political participation of Hmong hilltribes at Ban Maew Mai, Amphoe Muang Tak, Changwat Tak particulary as expressed on the election day of members of House of Representatives, on March 22, 1992. This study uses data from documentary research, personal interviews of selected samples and close observation techniques. The result of this research indicates that most of the hilltribes have low level of education with the exception of a few of them who are well educated and participate and contribute to modernizing their villages particulary as expressed in the previous election day of members of House of Representatives, on March 22, 1992. As for factors which affect the levels of political participation of the Hmong, they are expressed in the form of launching various public relations programs, participating in political campaigns for the candidates and for political parties, setting up the defense system of the villages by using the clustered peace keeping clustered system, keeping in close contact with various mass media, launching campaigns to disseminate knowledge of democratic system in practical manners. Hmong leaders have characteristics for being local leaders, both in terms of legal leaders and natural leaders and setting up the democratic knowledge dissemination projects at village level.
