The Kaso people at Ban Phang Daeng, Tambon Phang Daenf, Amphoe Dong Luang, Mukdahan, have named their wedding ceremonies, the Chia Sala tradition. This study aims to find out the elements and stages of Chia Sala, beliefs in the Chia Sala ritual which has changed. It is found that at the present, the Chia Sala tradition has been influenced by the nearby society’s culture and traditions. There are many stages in this ritual such as the overture by the matchmaker, then making a marriage proposal and calculating an auspicious time. After that, the bride’s and groom’s families prepare the wedding ceremony. In the ceremony, there are a parade of trays containing betels and areca to the bride's home as a troth, making a bed for the newly-wed couple, presenting presents and a dowry, then tying the conjuror’s wrists while the conjuror ties the bride’s and the groom’s wrists. There is also a predictation with a chicken jaw bone, teaching the bride and the groom, apologizing to the groom’s family, washing the feet of the bride and giving the bride and the groom away. The elements and the stages of Chia Sala ritual reflect the beliefs of the Kaso people as regards materials, personnel, time, place and the supernatural. (p. 154-162)
