Abstract |
The author presents the traditions of the Shan in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, by interviewing five knowledgeable informants and participating in cultural activities. The Shan traditions are divided into two categories; life-cycle traditions which include birth, engagement, marriage and domestic partnership and belief-related traditions which include healing, funerals, ordination, and other religious traditions.
