Abstract |
The report surveyed the settlement and livelihood of the Lue at MuangLuangVillage, TambonLuangNua, DoiSaket District, ChiangMaiProvince, in order to obtain a guideline for studying other Tai ethnic groups. The Lue at MuangLuangVillage believe that their ancestors originated from Sipsongpanna Region, China, in the 16th century. The belief is in accordance with archeological evidence at the neighboring WiangKaen Archeological Site. The group has its own spoken language, leads a simple farming life and adheres to its customs, traditions and to Buddhism. The villagers were ready to improve themselves through education and training provided by state agencies.
