Abstract |
The Tai Lue at Lung Khon Village#10 in Mae Sai District migrated from Sipsongpanna Region, southern China, and Muang Yong in Burma, to the area about 50 years ago. Initially, they received Thai citizenship but it was later provoked during the Thanom Kitikhachon government. The revocation caused a lot of hardship to their lives. They were deprived of the rights to land ownership and being state employees, marginalizing them from the mainstream society. As a consequence, they are eager to become Thai citizens and actively carry out the cultural assimilation process.
