Abstract |
The Lahu ethnic group believes in supernatural powers. The group believes that Kue Sha is the God of Creation. If humans do not do good deeds, the god would not protect them and evil spirits would assault them and make them ill. Moreover, after they die, they would be reborn as over 150 kinds of animals until their karma ends. Until then, they would be reborn as human beings again. Tubo or Pu Jong is believed to be able to communicate with the god. In addition, the group also believes in guardian spirits who must be appeased. If anyone was sacrilegious, he would be made to become sick. Treatments of sickness might include conducting rituals and using medicinal herbs.
