Abstract |
There are several ethnic groups in Chiang Mai from the past to the present. Most lowlanders were assimilated with Khon Muang, the majority group. They could speak Kham Muang dialect, eat local food, dress like Khon Muang, and participate in festivals and rituals of local people. The author viewed that Chiang Mai was successful in cultural assimilation to form what came to be known as Lanna culture. People co-habitate harmoniously with the unique blend of Lanna (pp. 56-57).
