| Abstract |
|
The report surveyed the firewood use by various hilltribes in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son and Nan Provinces. It is found that, on average, 38.262 cubic meters/family/year of firewood in watershed areas were used. It was viewed as a huge amount; therefore hilltribes should be encouraged to plant fast growing trees to use as firewood instead of that found in watershed areas.
