Abstract |
This work is mainly concerned with roles of Sgaw Karen women in four villages, namely PhaTaek, Pha Den, Mae Lot and Mae Jiaw villages in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province. The focus is on those women in Pha Taek Village. It was found that the main role of these women was to take care of the family, such as doing chores, raising children, working in the field, finding food, and daily wage earners providing support to their families when there was rice shortage. Additionally, they were consultants to their husbands and looked after their families when their husbands worked elsewhere.
