Abstract |
The thesis investigated the socio-political attitude of the Yao ethnic group in Tambon Pha Chang Noi, Pong District of Phayao Province. There were 157 samples from 12 villages, who had acquired Thai socio-political information and had had contacts with Thai society and dealt with hilltribe-related state officers. It was found that 73.5% had a positive attitude toward Thai political institutions. For instance, 71.4% cast their votes during elections and 98.2% were loyal to the monarchy. In addition, they had been exposed to political information. Socially, 78.9% allowed their children to marry Thai people and 86.4% wore non-traditional garments.
