Abstract |
The thesis investigated the land use of the Pow Karen at Nong Lak Village, Thung Hua Chang District of Lanphun Province. The village ancestors were forestry workers who collectively established the village and asked their relatives in their former villages to settle there. Later on, some parts of the village land were declared a forest and wild life reserve by the state. Consequently, the villagers tried to solve land use problems by setting up a community forest area under the supervision of a committee and implementing non-swidden agriculture.
