A team of human rights lawyers is preparing new evidence to convince the Phetchaburi Appeal Court to order an emergency hearing on the disappearance of prominent Karen activist Porlajee Rakchongcharoen, known as "Billy".
"We have found new evidence the Appeal Court will be interested in, including a conflict in witness statements given to police and the court," said human rights lawyer Surapong Kongchantuk, who leads the team.
On Monday, the Phetchaburi Appeal Court accepted a petition filed by Pinnapa Prueksapan, the wife of Mr Porlajee, and human rights lawyer Waraporn Uthairing, under Section 90 of the Criminal Code requesting an urgent hearing.
