Abstract |
The author investigated folk media in the Mon culture in Phra Pradaeng District. It was found from the investigation that the folk media had changed in different periods in terms of their roles and patterns. The distinct role on the Mon residents was that they conformed to their traditions and they felt happy following their traditions. The role on community was to unite community members and the role on the ethnic society was the transmission and learning of the ethnic culture from one generation to the next. The transmission changed the distinction between animism and Buddhism. The media on Buddhist belief had been maintained more than those on animistic belief, which was a cultural heritage for young generations to carry on (p. 282).
