Abstract |
The objective of this qualitative research was to study the development of migration and adaptation of Tai Yai transnational laborers. The study area was in Muang district, Chiang Mai province, with additional data collected in Piang Luang and Wiang Haeng districts, and Tong Kyi Township in the Shan State, Myanmar. It was revealed that there were both legal and illegal Tai Yai laborers working in Muang district areas. Their migration into Thailand was divided into four periods. The factors relating to their migration in each period were different in both Thailand and Myanmar.
