Abstract |
This thesis investigated the history, meanings, styles, and roles of the song for a cremation ceremony performed by the Khong Mon (a gong-circle instrument) ensembles of four traditional music bands, namely Mon Ban Bat, Mon Ban Phathayakosol, Mon Pathum Thani, and Mon Pak Lat. The analysis focused on musical characteristics unique to each band, including pitches, styles, structures of the song, Nathap Taphon Mon, and the use of “Khong performer”, and the song for cremation ceremony.
