Abstract |
The thesis investigated the behavior and factors affecting healthcare and healthcare services of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand. The data were collected by interviewing and by direct questioning of the workers and were statistically analyzed to find out the factors related to their decisions to seek healthcare services and healthcare providing agencies.
It was found that several factors were involved in their decisions to use healthcare services. The most important factor was registration of Myanmar migrant workers. Other factors affecting the frequency and opportunities to use healthcare services included occupation, education level, and severity of illnesses.
Moreover, it was found that various factors affected their decisions to use healthcare services from agencies. It was revealed that drug stores were the first place where the migrant workers got medical services. They would go to the hospital when symptoms became worse.
Registration of the migrant workers was also an important factor in making a decision whether to seek healthcare services from state or from private medical centers.
